"The genocide ended because of the military leadership and strategy of Paul Kagame, the leader of the RPF, a predominantly Tutsi rebel army, that though greatly outnumbered, managed to drive the genocidaires out of the country, mostly into Zaire."

Skulls and Bones of Rwandans: CBS News
The Rwandan Genocide ended in mid July 1994. The leading force involved in bringing peace to Rwanda was the Rwandan Patriotic Front, a life saving group led by Paul Kagame. The RPF were able to force Hutu extremists out of the country. Trials have since been held to convict Hutu perpetrators, though of the thousands involved, less than one hundred have been indicted.
